After the adventures of yesterday, we both needed to sleep in. So sleep in we did! :) We got up around 10am and went up to the roof of the building for a breakfast of toast and coffee. Nothing quite like a nice breakfast with a (relatively) nice view of the city. Since we hadn't done laundry since we arrived (it hasn't been
that long), we threw in a load and hung it out before we ventured out into the city.
We went to the central market first because it was only a block from our hostel (yeah, we've got a good location for our hostel). The central market is like a huge flea market, but in a nice air-conditioned building. :) There was quite a bit of stuff, but we didn't get anything. We shirked the pressure and decided to just peruse and come back later to buy stuff. Always a good choice. :) But we grabbed some lunch at a stall outside. It was a coconut noodle pasta dish or some sort. It was pretty good.

After lunch, we went to Merdeka Square (Independence Square). It is where the Malaysian flag was first hoisted after Malaysia achieved its nationhood. There stands a 100m tall flagpole, which is really tall.

After Merdeka square, we went to a nature area a few kilometers away. There was an orchid garden, a bird park, and some "trekking trails". We didn't go to the bird park because it was too expensive, but we did the free things, which luckily was everything else. :) Here are some pics from the orchid garden, although we have a ton more... :) Bridget was on camera duty for that... :)

After the nature area, we headed to the national museum (which was very well done) and took some shots of different things around the city, at least the small part we were in...

After all of that excitement, we went back to the hostel and got a dinner recommendation and headed back out again. :) We were recommended a Chinese a few blocks away. We didn't find the one we were recommended, but picked a good one out of the bunch anyway. :) I got a Tom Yam Squid, which ended up being a squid soup. It was good, but had these really spicy green beans. After eating one, my mouth was on fire for about 15 minutes. So, I avoided the rest of them. And Bridget got claypot chicken in oyster sauce. She really liked it. It had some suspicious red peppers in it, so she just avoided them. No reason to risk it, I guess... :)

After dinner, we walked through Petaling Street, which is a pretty big street market. Despite some good offers, we didn't purchase anything again. We're got tight purse strings, at least for now... :) After that, we were pretty tired, so we headed back to the hostel for some much needed shuteye.
